Cognitive Behavioural Therapies

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that emphasizes the important role of thinking in how we feel and what we do. It does not exist as a distinct therapeutic technique. CBT is an amalgam of two therapies: cognitive and behavioral therapy. It is brief, time-limited, structured, directive and problem –oriented. It can be applied to variety of psychological disorders, especially in depression, anxiety, OCD, fears, Phobias, and addictions; as it focuses on identifying and changing maladaptive patterns of information processing and related behaviors. CBT methods are rooted in a psychological understanding of symptoms.
